What You Need To Remember When Your Life Plans Change
THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE FOR MORE INFO.
Last week we talked about how to stay strong when you fail. This week, we are going to talk about what to think about when you need to change your life plans.
Plans change all the time
First of all, plans are always evolving. I don’t know about you but I am changing my focus almost every year. Last year, we kept talking about getting an RV and traveling around the USA and Canada for a year or two. Today, we are talking about opening a private practice for my husband.
This is the reason why I stopped making 5 years plans. Because I know that 5 years from now, I will have completely different priorities in life.
The truth is that we are evolving every day, we are confronted with new ideas that might inspire us to follow a different path and guess what, it’s okay!
It’s okay to change plans
What you want to do with your life, might be different than what you will want to do tomorrow. It doesn’t mean that you are a failure. You can change plans because you’ve grown and your priorities have changed, or because of life circumstances.
You can come back to it later
Nobody is stopping you to come back to your original plan later.
When you have big goals in life, it takes time and a lot of trial and error. So you can take a break if you need to.
Sometimes you will realize that you are lacking of the resources needed to reach your goals, like time, money or skills, but it doesn’t mean that you will never have them.
You have learned from it
Now, take a moment to think about everything you’ve learned from working on your goal. I’m talking about new skills you acquired but also your personal experiences.
Whatever happened, influenced you to become the person that you are today.
It doesn’t matter what other people think
What people say about your life plans, reflects more on their own decisions than what you are focussing on. So forget about what people think and just do what is good for you!
Honestly, if you spend too much time worrying about what people think you will never take action to change your life because there will always be someone judging your decisions, not because they are bad but because they are comparing themselves to you.
Save for later

June 13, 2018 at 11:29 amJulie. I think you are awesome! Your articles are always great and just so real and honest. I’m sorry your recent endeavors you had mentioned in another post didn’t work out as well as you had hoped, but don’t take it personally. I think a lot of people are overwhelmed themselves with a lot of other committments or subscriptions and just couldn’t take on another committment even if they really wanted to. Just wanted to let you know.☺
